Sweet Can is proud to announce the 9th annual Mittens & Mistletoe: A Winter Circus Cabaret. A Bay Area favorite holiday tradition, ‘Mittens’ is back with more comedy, spectacular circus feats and interactive madcappery! This year’s cast includes veterans from Circus Bella, The New Pickle Circus, Cirque de Boheme, Ars Minerva, Flynn Creek Circus, and Teatro Zinzanni. Their world-class performers will amaze and uplift your entire family! Live acomplished circus arts entertainers defy gravity, perform amazing feats of dexterity and strength, and award-winning clowns amuse and delight all ages. Laughter is good for you. Our Performers' Bio

Beth Clarke (Producer): Beth grew up in SF where she was inspired by the New American Circus movement. She performed as a teen apprentice with Make*A*Circus and with Mr. Lu Yi’s Circus Center, including directing one of their full length productions, Yu San. She is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale de Cirque in Montreal and studied with Masha Dimitri and Szilard Sekeley, two of the world’s most re-known slack rope artists. Beth’s performing credits include The Seven Fingers, Circus Cirkor, Cirque Elioze, The Pickle Family Circus, The Discovery Channel, Disney, Cirque Du Soleil, and many other circuses, varieties and theatrical groups throughout the world. She is one of the founders of Sweet Can, mother to two children, and a Pilates teacher.

Jamie Coventry (Clown, Juggler, Producer, Director): Jamie was raised in central California by a family of eccentrics. He studied theatre arts in Santa Fe, music in San Luis Obispo and education and circus arts in San Francisco. Jamie has worked with Flynn Creek Circus, Circus of Sound, New Pickle Circus, The Pickle Circus School Tour, Teatro Zinzanni, Sweet Can and more. He is perhaps best known for his work with partner Natasha Kaluza. Coventry & Kaluza won Best Comedy/Clown Act in the American Circus Festival two years in a row, and Best Duo in the Picklewater Free Circus Festival. Jamie is also the co-creator of the neo- vaudevillian harmonica trio, Tin Sandwich and a dedicated member of the Bay Area Harmonica Club. www.coventryandkaluza.com

Oriana Doria-Quesada (Rola Bola): Oriana was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and began training and performing with the San Francisco Youth Circus at the age of 7 under Master Lu Yi and Xia Ke Min at the San Francisco School of Circus Arts (now Circus Center). With Lu Yi and Xia Ke Min’s guidance, they were exposed to a multitude of different skills in traditional Chinese Acrobatics, and began specializing in Rola Bola Kick Bowls at the age of 16. In addition to performing with the SF Youth Circus, they have also performed with the New Pickle Circus, Circus Finelli, Circus Chimera, Troupe Vertigo, Sweet Can, the Santa Rosa Symphony, in the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, and with the Los Angeles Opera.

Katherine Hutchinson (Tissu): Katherine Hutchinson is an aerial artist with a background in classical ballet. After earning a BFA in Dance Performance at Towson University, she moved to Oakland, California to deepen her study of aerial dance. Here she trains, performs and teaches her own unique style of air ballet. Katherine is thrilled to be collaborating with Sweet Can Productions to bring radiance and magic to your holiday season. Katherine performs annually in local circus variety shows like Tourettes without Regrets, Athletic Playground After Dark, Upswing Aerial Dance and more. Last year, she performed aerial alongside the opera artists of Ars Minerva in their premiere of La Circe. In 2017 Katherine collaborated with Kinetic Arts Productions and Jaron Hollander to create Circus Veritas and the Sacred Order of the Burning Pants.

Natasha Kaluza (Producer, Director, Hula Hooper): Natasha holds a degree in theater and a graduate certificate in dance from UCSC, and attended two years of the SF Clown Conservatory under Jeff Raz. She’s performed with the New Pickle Circus, Pickle Circus School Tour, Circus Bella, Flynn Creek Circus, Circus of Sound, Sweet Can Productions, Teatro ZinZanni and many others. Aside from being the Super Duper Hula Hooper, she is perhaps best known for her work with partner Jamie Coventry. Christine Lee (Contortion, Aerial Moon): Christine has been training, performing and teaching circus arts over 12 years. She specializes in Single Point Trapeze, Aerial Hoop, Flying Trapeze, Double Aerial, and contortion/acrobatics. Christine has taught/performed at various resorts around the world, and has been teaching and performing in San Francisco over the past 10 years. You can find her teaching at the Circus Center, Aerial Artique and SF Pole and Dance; and performing with Trapeze World, the Vespertine Circus, Earth Circus Productions, Hubba Hubba, and more.

The Levins (Music): The Levins (Ira Levin and Julia Bordenaro Levin) are an award-winning, NY based, harmony driven, acoustic duo known for their sun-splashed melodies, unique harmonies, intertwining guitar and piano interplay. Their loving connection with one another and their audeinces, uplifts the spirit of our common humanity with a good will that leaves a smile on your face. Their albums have charted in the Top 10 and Top 20 respectively on the FOLK DJ charts, and their new album “Caravan of Dawn” will be released in 2019. The Levins have collaborated with Sweet Can Productions on four occasions, and while their song, Ale Brider has been used as the opening number of Mittens & Mistletoe since its inception, this is the first time they have been able to join and play it live!

Nina Sawant (Cyr Wheel, Contortion): Nina Sawant is a circus performer and choreographer who has found her home in the Bay Area. She has performed as a modern dancer and circus artist in the US, France, Ukraine, and Mexico. In 2009, Nina graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida Dance Program. Nina has performed with the national tour of Peter Pan 360, Incanto Productions, Earth Circus, Yea Big Dance, Shoes at the Door Dance Company, Femme Dulce Cabaret, and Busch Garden’s KaTonga. In 2013, Nina founded her own circus entertainment company, Maison Aurora to facilitate the creation of collaborative and innovative circus.

Amelia Van Brunt (MC, Clown): Amelia Van Brunt is an award-winning actor/creator, clown, dancer and character artist. She studied at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater where she completed the Professional Training Program and after graduation returned to complete a master’s thesis on clown. Amelia has trained with Bill Irwin, Jos Houben (L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq) and Steve Smith (Ringing Bros & Big Apple Circus.) Amelia has worked as clown and ringmaster for circuses including Flynn Creek Circus, the Vau de Vire Society and Cirque de Bohème as well as being a hospital clown for the Medical Clown Project. She completed an artist residence at the San Francisco Circus Center where she developed her solo show In the Blue of Evening which was accepted into the 2016 UNO Festival and toured internationally.
